RETURN INTO THE NEW

May 2024 – The roads we take sometimes lead us back to where we started. That is not to say that all was in vain – to the contrary. After almost seven years in Europe – years of the grand sweep of AI, the lingering social and economic ravages of the pandemic, a war that is far from over and deeply troubling, and the realization that I no longer fit, and perhaps never did, in the place of my ancestors – I have returned to the US to rekindle my connections and fill a role that demands all the skills I have ever learned from the time of first entering the workplace to reinventing myself time and again. Now I am all of it at the same time – interpreter, liaison, coordinator, team member, and creative impulse. Knowledge and experience matter – and nothing is more meaningful right now than that.

  1. This is so well written. It’s poignant. It makes me think about the world and our current conditions. It makes me feel hope and resurrection.
